What BroadBand Networks Corporation does

BroadBand Networks Corporation (BBNC) manufacturers a complete line of ATSC certified Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) multiplexers (mux) and ATM demultiplexers (demux) ATM Forum UNI-3.0/3.1. BBNC encoders, ATM muxes, demuxes and decoders are designed for reliability and are all designed using MPEG-2 compression technology.  BBNC ATM multiplexers have unique circuitry that includes proprietary traffic shaping algorithms that will smooth video streams and reduce the jitter in an ATM network.  This will insure a smooth, uninterrupted flow of video.  This conceptual approach permits BBNC equipment to be connected to virtually any ATM networking product, including central office facilities, without any modification at either end.  BBNC ATM devices can also act as an ATM network edge device without any modification.

BBNC's multi-channel system operates in a unattended fault-tolerant mode with automatic fail-over to backup or redundant components.

BroadBand Networks Corporation products enable users to digitally encode, compress, transmit, decode and store video signals for a complete range of applications including, distance learning, broadcast television, conferencing and entertainment.

Through its Intelligent Broadband Service Network (IBSN) solution, BroadBand Networks Corporation is advancing the state-of-the-art for video and data communications into the 21st century.

History

In the spring of 1998, Ralph P. Manfredo brought together the leadership team of Kit Sakamoto and Neil Mammen.  With him, they unfurled the banner of BroadBand Networks Corporation for the very first time.  The combined leadership at that April 13th meeting would result in a team that would move foreword to provide unparalleled end-to-end solutions for broadcast quality MPEG-2 digital video streams over ATM networks.

Shortly after formation, BroadBand Networks Corporation acquired the assets of NUKO Information Systems, a San Jose, CA public company.  This included all intellectual property, patents, pending patents, trademarks, finished goods inventory, raw materials and the test equipment required to manufacture, install and support the customer base.  BBNC also acquired NUKO's customer base, and are providing support to ensure those customers will not be abandoned. The value of this acquisition is well in excess of thirty-seven million dollars.  As a result of the NUKO acquisition, BBNC was immediately ready to build and ship any of the existing products. BBNC is currently making significant product improvements on NUKO designs and has established partnerships with key technology leaders.

At NAB '99 BroadBand Networks Corporation introduced the Millenium 2000 product family that consisted of single and multi-channel "codec" systems.

In addition to the NUKO acquisition, key company milestones have occurred, the first being in October 1998 when Gordon Kraft became a member of the Board of Directors, followed by BroadBand Networks Corporation's first major systems shipment, in December 1998 to, Bell South.  The most recent of the milestones was when Jeffrey Kraft joined BroadBand Networks Corporation as Vice President of Operations in January 1999 and his subsequent appointment as a corporate officer in February 1999
